1861-S Paquet Double Eagle, rare 1930-S Indian Eagle and early U.S. gold also rank among July 16-18 event highlights.
Bechtler’s 21-carat issues first appeared sometime after 1836. They are relatively plentiful, despite being issued for a short period of time. The Kagin-20 half eagle is the second most available Bechtler $5, with approximately 100 pieces in private hands; however, attractive, uncirculated coins are quite difficult to locate. The partially-reeded edge variety is unique.
