The Kagin-12, 22 Even quarter eagle obverse die was apparently made as a replacement for the Kagin-11 obverse, as all known examples appear to have been struck from a later state of the shared reverse die. The Kagin-12 is the scarcest of the pill-style $2 1/2s, with fewer than 20 known examples. There are perhaps three uncirculated Kagin-12 quarter eagles, including a single choice BU.
