(1835-37) C. Bechtler $2.50 Gold MS 64 GR, 22C, Uneven, K-11 Values

Details

The Kagin-11 is the earlier of two GEORGIA GOLD, 22 carat quarter eagles, and shares its reverse die with the K-13 (and all other pill-style Bechtler $2 1/2s). The 22 on the obverse is punched into the die with the first 2 in 22 lower, and rotated about 10 degrees clockwise, creating a somewhat haphazard appearance. With 40 examples known, the Kagin-11 is the most available Bechtler $2 1/2, but only by a narrow margin. Around ten examples are known in mint state.

Obverse: 64.G. 22~.CARATS. GEORGIA GOLD.
