The Government of Samoa series of Western Samoa in the World Currency contains 4 distinct entries.

The German Empire governed the western Samoan islands from 1900 until the outbreak of World War I. On 29 August 1914, the New Zealand Expeditionary Force landed unopposed on ‘Upolu and seized control from the Germans. After the war, New Zealand controlled Samoa as a Class C Mandate under trusteeship through the League of Nations, then through the United Nations.

Before gaining independence from New Zealand on 1 January 1962, the Government of Samoa (GOV) used British pounds, shillings, and pence issued by the Bank of New Zealand.
