The Receiver Generals Office is one of the oldest institutions in Jamaica. It was first established in Port Royal and removed to Kingston after the Great Fire of 1703. The Receiver Generals Office would later become the Island Treasury (TRE), located on Harbour Street up until the 1907 earthquake.
