The Republik Indonesia (Republic of Indonesia) series of Indonesia in the World Currency contains 29 distinct entries.

As the Dutch military support was withdrawn, various federal states dissolved. On 17 August 1950, the fifth anniversary of his proclamation of independence, President Sukarno declared that the Republik Indonesia Serikat was officially dissolved and replaced by the Republik Indonesia, a unitary state with a parliamentary democracy. On 15 December 1951, the DJB was nationalized as a government institution of Indonesia.

Until 1968, the issuance of coins and 1- and 2½-rupiah banknotes was the responsibility of the Republik Indonesia (RI), whereas higher denomination notes were issued by the Bank Indonesia (BI). In 1968, BI was granted the sole right to issue banknotes and coins.
