The Greysheet Catalog (GSID) of the $25 Platinum Eagles (1997–2008) series of American Eagles in the U.S. Coins contains 2 distinct entries with CPG® values between $548.21 and $1,028.21.

$25 platinum American Eagles contain a quarter ounce of pure platinum and were struck from 1997 through 2008. These quarter ounce platinum coins carry an obverse design by John Mercanti depicting a closeup of the Statue of Liberty?s head and crown, while the original reverse designed by Thomas D. Rogers carries the likeness of a flying American eagle. From 1998 through 2008, a new reverse design was employed each year on the proofs while the original Rogers design continued on uncirculated specimens for the duration of the series? run.

Regular uncirculated $25 platinum eagles from the Philadelphia Mint are generally common, though the three burnished issues struck at the West Point Mint were made in much smaller numbers and are considerably scarce. The 2006-W, 2007-W, and 2008-W burnished $25 platinum eagles were each made in quantities of fewer than 4,000 pieces, and thus these issues command premiums well above spot values.
