Values / World Currency / Venezuela

First discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1498, Venezuela (Little Venice) wasn’t colonized by Spain until 1522. On 19 April 1810, a junta deposed the Captaincy General of Venezuela, and on 5 July 1811, Venezuela became one of the first Spanish-American colonies to declare independence, which was not securely established until 1821, when Venezuela was a department of the federal republic of Gran Colombia. It gained full independence as a separate country in 1830.
