Values / U.S. Coins / Medals & Tokens

Medals and tokens look like coins, but are not legal tender. Often these coins do not feature a denomination, but tokens may also serve the purpose of private currency (Lesher dollars) for use at certain stores (also called "store cards"). So-called dollars actually represent a fascinating segment of this market. They are not dollars, but are referred to because of their silver-dollar size. These items were typically issued to commemorate big events like the Columbian Exposition of 1892-3.
