Obverse Description

Above a spray of oak and laurel, the national coat of arms depicting the eagle in profile to the left, with feathers resembling plates of armor. Above, the legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.

Reverse Description

Slightly left of center, the dismembered Aztec goddess Coyolxauhqui, as carved on a stone in Mexico City. To the right, the denomination $ / 50, with the peso symbol ($) placed above the zero. Below the zero, the date; below the date, the mintmark M. A border of points and beads in the style of the Aztec Calendar Stone extends from the figure’s left foot around the  field to the left, and back to the figure’s left hand. Inside this border, the legend templo mayor de méxico and ! coyolxauhqui !.
