1981-S Type 1 One Cent PR RD Values

Details

The 1981-S Type 1 proof mintmark is the same S as was used on 1979-S Type 2 and 1980 proofs. Most 1981-S Lincoln proof cents bear the Type 1 mintmark, which isn't very clearly defined. Later in 1981, a new S mintmark was created that exhibits bulbous serifs and is much clearer in shape than its Type 1 predecessor.

Obverse: Bust of Abraham Lincoln framed by IN GOD WE TRUST on the top periphery. The word LIBERTY to the left of the portait and the date postioned on the right side.

Reverse: Lincoln memorial building centered with words ONE CENT, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA on top and bottom periphery. E PLURIBUS UNUM centered above the top of the memorial.
