Obverse: Liberty head by William Barber, sometimes nicknamed the Sailor Head, facing left, with coronet inscribed LIBERTY, hair tied back with ribbon.

Reverse: Spade-type shield with 20 incuse, rays above shield, two arrows and olive branch at lower border of shield. Around border, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / CENTS.
