Strong strike doubling is noted on Liberty’s nose, lips, neck, and chin. This variety was once referred to as the "18.11" because the diagnostic overstate is weak, but best distinguished with a large dot remnant in the date. There are two Overton varieties of the 1811/10: O-101 and O-102. The O-101 variety features weak definition within the stars on the left side of the obverse. O-102 has sharp central definition in these stars. Rarity ratings provided courtesy of the Bust Half Nut Club Rarity Ratings Committee as published in their 2020 BHNC study report.
Obverse Description
Die dot, curl, mouth, stars OBV. 1-s2. Same as 1 except there are many minor differences caused by reworking of the die. The upper forecurl now stands far out from the headband. The mouth is wide open, much more than on previous listing. The small dot between 11 and the fine semi circle to right of last 1 are gone. The dot between 81 and spike at cap are still there but smaller. Stars are now sharp on left and flat at right, opposite from previous listing. Milling is only a trace or none at all.
Reverse Description
Crossbars 1 and 3 extend far into right wing REV. B. A1LE, A2C, A3UH. 50 C. is 1 ¾ mm. Center dot between crossbars 4 and 5. Arrowheads flat and separated. A-A is ¾ mm. I under right side of T. Besides the lines from crossbars 1 and 3, there is a small spike from right corner of shield. Late die states show a die crack from lower tip of right wing through arrowheads and 50 C through bottom of UNITED to STAT. (62,60,60,58,58) R.4
