Strong strike doubling is noted on Liberty’s nose, lips, neck, and chin. This variety was once referred to as the "18.11" because the diagnostic overstate is weak, but best distinguished with a large dot remnant in the date. There are two Overton varieties of the 1811/10: O-101 and O-102. The O-101 variety features weak definition within the stars on the left side of the obverse. O-102 has sharp central definition in these stars. Rarity ratings provided courtesy of the Bust Half Nut Club Rarity Ratings Committee as published in their 2020 BHNC study report.
Obverse Description
11 over 10, OBV.1 OBV. 1. S1UE, S7UH-UHC, S8C, S13 SC. PT. UE. Stars are large, usually flat on the left and sharp on the right. Mouth well open to full depth. Date is 9 ¼ mm. There is a bold die dot between 8.1 at bottom and a much smaller dot between 11 near top and a bit closer to the left 1. A fine vertical curved line is to the right of the last 1. A spike is upward from the top front of cap. Some specimens show a fine die crack joining stars 9 through 12.
Reverse Description
Double segment above last S REV. A. A1UE, A2C, A3LE. 50 C. is 2 ¼ mm. A-A is ½ mm. A solid double segment above last S in STATES. Center dot between crossbars 4 and 5. (65,64,64,64,63) R.1
