Rarities across the spectrum of American coinage are set to cross the auction block.
Secondary date digits are evident, with the secondary 1 slightly north of the primary, and the secondary 8, 5, and 4 slightly right of the primary. Note that the doubling visible on the word DOLLAR is the typical doubling known for James B. Longacre’s designs, such as Indian Head cents, Shield nickels, and others, and is not the result of a doubled die. The repunched date is the significant feature of this variety. This is a very rare variety that to date has no confirmed sales.
Obverse Description
Indian head portrait with crown centered in the design surrounded by UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around the periphery.
Reverse Description
"1 DOLLAR" is centered with date below, surrounded by a large wreath tied in a bow at the bottom. Mint mark appears at the bottom below the blow.
